Everyone has that store they can’t go into without buying at least four things beyond the items on their list. For me, that store is World Market. Last week I went there for taper candles and left with goat’s milk hand lotion, Asian soup spoons, a bottle of wine, and a white enamel pendant lamp. I’d say it’s a problem, but it’s actually not one at all; I’ve filled more holes in my decor and tabletop schemes using goodies from World Market than from any other resource! And the latest additions to the lineup is especially tempting—they fit so nicely into the modern rustic kitchen vibe that I’m crushing on these days!
The look is geometric and clean yet full of earthy, organic detail. Brass, copper, and gold—applied with a delicate hand—add just enough polish to keep things from veering too crunchy. Bleached and pickled woods meet matte marble and further contribute to the complex and layered sensibility. As the icing on the cake, a bounty of wobbly and imperfect handmade ceramics complete a space that feels collected over time…or in this case, collected during a single joyful spree at World Market!
