Now that my bedroom makeover is complete, I'm about to embark on some changes to my living room. And just as in the bedroom, my goal is to pare down, keep it simple, and create a fresh canvas that inspires me to keep the space clean and livable. Because the room is only about 10 x 12 feet, each piece needs to serve a purpose as well as look great. Clutter is prohibited!
Yet as much as I love minimalist decor—and know it to be essential to my sanity in a tiny house—it's hard to put it into effect! The line between spartan chic and disconcertingly under-furnished is a fine one. After all, I want the living room to feel warm and lived-in, not half-abandoned. On the other end of the spectrum, I seem to accumulate stuff without even trying. It requires a concerted effort not to bring unnecessary items into my home!
But I'm determined to keep things stylish and simple. I've got the larger elements already in place (a black leather couch, a marble coffee table, and my much-loved sling chair), so now it's a matter of filling in the holes with accents that add texture and interest while still emphasizing a minimalist vibe. I'll keep you posted on my progress both here and on my Instagram!
