I've divulged my love of ceramics many a time before. My collection is growing slowly but surely, fueled by my affinity for the charm of handmade clay vessels. I pick up new ones when I travel, finding them at vintage stores or boutiques that highlight local artists. But every once in a while, I discover a piece worth paying shipping fees—and the newly opened online shop by Trollhagen & Co. is full of them!
Trollhagen & Co., which is based in Brooklyn and upstate New York, turns out bowls and crocks, tumblers and planters, that encapsulate exactly what I love about ceramics. They're humble, unassuming, and utilitarian, made all the more beautiful by the fact that they're not trying to be anything more than exactly what they are.
I can't help but notice how versatile these personality-packed pieces are. They'd look perfectly at home in a spare, rustic environment that complements their earthy appeal, but they'd also bring welcome contrast to a more polished setting. But what sold me is the company's tagline, 'Collectibles for the Domestic & Adventurous'. Because who amongst us doesn't fancy ourselves a little of both?
