You know that store that just…gets you? The one you can walk into on even your crabbiest, frumpiest, 'my life is a fashion disaster' day, only to leave feeling buoyant, inspired, and utterly chic just for having breathed the air? For me, that shop is Bucks & Does. A relatively new addition to LA's Silverlake neighborhood, the boutique has become a mainstay in my window shopping repertoire.
Bucks & Does owners Jason and Laura know a thing or two about getting dressed; they're the brains behind Anthropologie's Porridge label. The husband/wife team has been waiting for the perfect location to open their own shop, and their spot on Sunset Boulevard couldn't be better! Giant picture windows not only make for a glowy light that illuminates the store's interior, they host rotating art installations by local artist Cathy Callahan. (Check out the hundreds of dipped feathers below!)
Then there's the clothes, of course. Top quality basics like Mother denim and Monrow tees meet vibrant signature pieces from Hem + Grommet, Mara Hoffman, and Tucker. The result is a mix that epitomizes the bohemian sophistication so effortlessly channeled by LA's chic set. Finally, not only do Jason and Laura stock killer accessories, bodycare, and menswear too, the Bucks & Does website is shoppable! Because everyone deserves their daily recommended allowance of California cool.
