Packing light has never been my forté. A girl needs six pairs of shoes for two days out of town, right? But when frequent travel meets increasingly restrictive airline luggage regulations, moderation takes precedent over outfits for every possible occasion. When paring down my away-game, I've found that it helps a ton to use bags that allow for just the essentials. If they're coordinated and monogrammed like the Cuyana Overnight Bag and Travel Case Set, all the better!
My first step when packing for a short trip is to choose a palette of neutrals with a single bright accent —for example denim, black, white, and army green, plus a pop of fire engine red. You can toss in patterns like stripes, polka dots, and camo for variety, but because you've edited down to just a few colors, you can mix and match without a second thought.
Put your laptop in a tote as your "one personal item" for the plane; that becomes your daytime carryall for the trip. And if you don't have room in your weekend bag for a small evening purse, no sweat! Just empty your jewelry pouch upon arrival and use it as a clutch when you go out at night. I promise, being organized (almost) feels better than having six pairs of shoes within reach!
Note: Cuyana kindly sent product for this post but all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that keep The City Sage going! And more Cuyana news: The label is running a contest called #LoveMyPerfect in which you can help them design the next product in their Namesake Collection and they'll name it after you! I'm thinking the 'Sage Snuggie' in cashmere…
I love that you show that packing light doesn’t mean sacrificing style… Admittedly, I usually do just that in the name of a lighter suitcase!
love this – anything monogrammed is the best.
