You guys, I have a confession to make: I'm out of the fashion loop. I can't seem to get a handle on the spring trends, I've been so busy that I haven't popped into the stores to see what's on the racks, and nothing online has grabbed my attention either. So a recent InStyle feature on the '5 Key Pieces' for the season spoke directly to me. No fuss, no muss. Just get 'em!
Numero Uno? A relaxed take on the button down. I'm willing to bet we all have one of these in our closets already—I know I do. My favorite is by Bella Dahl. It's impossibly comfortable, goes with everything, and garners inquiries everwhere I go. I'm thinking the lighter version is in order to keep the dark one company in my closet (not that either will spend much time there anyway!)
Look for a fit that's body-conscious without being too tight, especially across the bust and in the upper arms. Pair this hard-working softy with everything from an A-line skirt in the office to weekend jeans in a contrasting wash. And keep in mind that a few variations on this theme can't go remiss. Lots of brands are doing interesting fabric blends beyond basic cotton. As if you needed an excuse to stock up!
Now stay tuned for my take on the other four Key Pieces that InStyle featured!
Oh, phew. Chambray on jean is about the only thing I wear.
yes! polka dots and denim shirts save the day.
i bought one last week at T.J Maxx. Hoping I can work it in with my wardrobe this Spring.
Denim, chambrays, and polka dots, we love them all.
Washed and worn in denim shirts have become an essential but I think womenswear will start seeing an increase in raw, selvedge, and unwashed denim similar to how celebrated it has been in menswear the past few years.
I bought the Bella Dahl a couple of weeks ago and love it!
Thanks for the Bella Dahl suggestion! I ordered that ubiquitous Madewell chambray a few months ago and wanted to cry because it looked so terrible on me. I felt like a failure stuffing it into a return envelope.
