Now Playing: Don’t Save Me by Haim

For the first couple months of this year I've been in a music rut. I was listening to the same old Pandora stations, and nothing new was catching my ear. Then last week I heard the song 'Don't Save Me' from the LA band Haim, and it kicked me into a flurry of iTunes activity. Now it seems like everywhere I turn there's another addictive track to download!

But first, back to Haim. This trio of sisters combines the energy of vintage Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul beats with the boho-badassery of Fleetwood Mac and Kate Bush. The result is songs that will have you rounding up your best girls to choreograph a 90's-inspired dance video homage. I highly recommend doing so in a slumber party setting with plenty of Dr. Pepper and Doritos.

Even if it's just you in the car with the windows down and the volume at full blast, Haim satisfies. Their lyrics are smart, tight, and so rythmically engrossing it won't be long 'til you know them all by heart. Start with the line, "All my life I wasn't trying to get on the highway. I was wondering which way to go," and go from there. Then come over for that slumber party and we'll practice our moves.

P.S. Download Haim on iTunes. If you like 'Don't Save Me' you'll also love 'Forever'. Images: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8
